It shall be the policy of the Facilities Management Department to administer the responsibility for providing, distributing and maintaining utility services at all campus locations. Those services shall be centralized to the Facilities Management Department and entail electricity, natural gas, sewer, potable water treatment, and all fuel sources. The Chief Business Officer and the Facilities Management Office are the sole agents of the College in liaison with outside suppliers of these services.
All costs of general utility services for regularly budgeted programs shall be provided for, annually, in the Facilities Management budgets.
Measurable elements of utility expenses specifically associated with departmental or program usage, shall be chargeable to the respective budget/unit. Some examples would be:
- Natural gas usage in specific programs, e.g., cafeteria kitchens, art kilns, culinary kitchens, science labs.
- Usage of utilities outside normal operating schedules, e.g., classes or events scheduled during down times such as holidays, weekends, etc.
